Learn MoreWhat is Injection Molding?
Injection molding is the process of injecting molten plastic or metal feedstock into a mold cavity, rapidly cooling it, then ejecting the solidified part.
It is the most widely used manufacturing process for plastic parts and one of the most affordable routes to mass production. Tooling requires upfront investment, but cost per part drops significantly once the mold is made.

Injection Molding Processes
Our custom injection molding service typically involves the following steps:
Part Design
Upload 3D CAD files and 2D drawings. Engineers review DFM and optimize the design for molding.
Tooling Fabrication
Steel or aluminum molds are built, T1 samples are produced, and approved parts move to production.
Material Selection
Materials, pigments, and additives are selected to meet appearance and performance requirements.
Injection Molding
Molten material is injected under high pressure into the mold cavity to form the part.
Cooling and Ejection
The part cools and solidifies, then ejector pins release it before the next cycle.
Finishing and Quality Control
Parts are trimmed, finished, assembled when needed, and inspected to specification.
Match Your Project with the Right Mold Class
We fabricate aluminum tooling for rapid, low-volume prototyping and tool steel molds for mass production. SPI classes define durability and expected cycle life.
| SPI Mold Classification | Production Cycles | Material | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| 101 | 1,000,000+ | Hardened tool steel (H13, S7) | Mass production, automotive, appliances |
| 102 | 1,000,000 | Hardened steel, pre-hardened steel (P20) | Consumer goods, industrial parts |
| 103 | 500,000 | Pre-hardened steel; high-grade aluminum for limited use | Electronics, medical devices |
| 104 | 100,000 | Aluminum 7075 or carbon steel 1045 | Low-volume manufacturing, prototyping |
| 105 | 500 | Soft aluminum, epoxy resins, or 3D-printed polymers | Rapid prototyping, short-run production |
